Nachdem wir uns in unserem letzten Podcast mit Lost Places beschäftigt haben, sprechen wir diesmal über Streetart und Graffiti in Hamburg und greifen damit ein vielleicht nicht neues, dafür aber sehr junges stadtgeschichtliches Thema auf – besonders auch der Sicht von Archäologen für die das Mittelalter oft schon zu modern ist! Für uns, Christoph und Michael, entwickelte sich diese Hafenradio-Folge zu einer regelrechten Zeitreise in das Hamburg der 80er Jahre, eine Zeit, die uns beide geprägt hat. Beide haben wir quasi hautnah mitbekommen, wie die ersten Graffitis in Hamburg aufgetaucht sind. Musik von der Sugar Hill Gang oder Grandmaster Flash wurde in den Diskotheken (damals waren das noch keine Clubs) wie das Shave, das Bendula oder das Voilà aufgelegt.
Eine Zeit, in der sich viel in Hamburgs Straßen getan hat. Neben Hip-Hop und Sprayern waren unterschiedliche Gruppen unterwegs – Stichwort Popper, Mods, Punks – und in vielen Stadtvierteln gaben Jugendgangs den Ton an wie die Streetboys oder Champs.
Wir unterhalten uns in Ausgabe #026 mit Mirko Reisser aka DAIM, der selbst seit 1989 als aktiver Sprayer und Graffiti-Künstler nicht nur in Hamburg unterwegs ist. Unterstützt werden wir von Meike Schade, die uns mit Mirko zusammengebracht hat und uns als Co-Moderatorin ergänzt. Meike, Jahrgang 1984, selbst hat zwar die 80er Jahre nicht „aktiv miterlebt“, ist aber von der Szene seit Kindertagen fasziniert. Die studierte Kunstwissenschaftlerin ist heute hauptamtlich Programmplanerin für die Hamburger Volkshochschule und beschäftigt sich mit Digitalisierung in der Kulturvermittlung. Aus Leidenschaft für Graffiti hat sie auch zahlreiche Führungen und Workshops zum Thema gegeben. Ihre Masterarbeit hat sie über ein Mural Art Projekt mit der spanischen Künstlergruppe Boa Mistura in Kapstadt geschrieben.
Mirko ist heute als Künstler sehr erfolgreich und – das freut uns besonders – hat mit einigen Mitstreitern (Andreas Timm, Oliver Nebel, Frank Petering) am 28. August ein Crowdfunding mit dem Titel „EINE STADT WIRD BUNT“ gestartet. Dabei geht es um ein Buchprojekt zu den Anfängen der Graffiti- und Hip-Hop-Szene in den 80er und 90er Jahren in Hamburg.
