Das hafenradio war wieder einmal unterwegs! Vor über einem Jahr haben wir mit Alfred Haffner über das Pferdchen von Freisen gesprochen. Aber es mussten einige noch offene Fragen der Erforschung des keltischen Pferdchens von Freisen vor Ort geklärt werden. So kam es zu einer spannenden, kleinen Exkursion zusammen mit der Archäologin Isabel Schormann.
Wieder eine Vater und Sohn Folge. Alfred Haffner hat sich im letzten Jahr weiter intensiv mit dem keltischen Bronzepferdchen aus dem saarländischen Freisen beschäftigt. Wir sprechen zunächst über einige neue Erkenntnisse, vor allem was die Interpretationsmöglichkeiten der vermeintlichen zwei Schwerter angeht, die dem Toten mitgegeben wurden.
Einige offene Fragen, die vor allem die sog. Rezeptionsgeschichte dieses besonderen Fundes angehen, konnten aber nur vor Ort geklärt werden. Deshalb haben wir uns nach Freisen und Berschweiler aufgemacht, um zu erfahren welche Rolle das Pferdchen heute dort spielt, wie sich der Fundplatz darstellt oder was aus der steinernen Grabstele geworden ist, die im Pfarrhaus verbaut sein soll. Auch die Wohn- und Wirkungsstätte des Ausgräbers Johann Carl Sohns haben wir in Berschweiler, nahe bei Freisen, gesucht. Einen Abstecher zum Weiselberg haben wir auch noch gemacht. Unterstützt hat uns bei alldem die Archäologin Isabel Schormann vom saarländischen Landesdenkmalamt. Wir haben Frau Schormann im Podcast fälschlicherweise „Krollmann“ genannt – nur wegen eines Versprechers von mir gleich am Anfang – Entschuldigung für die Verwirrung!
Der geplante Artikel zum Pferdchen von Freisen hat mittlerweile schon den Umfang eines kleinen Büchleins erreicht und es werden nach der kleinen Exkursion sicher noch einige Abschnitte hinzukommen.
